You earned yourself a debt. There are a lot of ways to do it. Maybe you played a game of chance without paying, and then lost. Maybe you watched part of a show through the curtains of the Big Top without a ticket. Or maybe you’re one of the rare few to seek out the Ringmaster by choice, to see what this strange new world has to offer. Either way, you end up with a job with which to pay the carnival back, and a contract.
Only months after settling on Pern, tragedy has struck the colonists. An organism the colonists have termed "Thread" has come to Pern and with it, the knowledge that the paradise planet is no longer safe for its human inhabitants. As the Pernese begin to sift through the devastation left behind by First Fall, they're dealt an additional blow when news spreads that Admiral Valeria Forrester and Governor Rehan Kasabian are among the dead. With no one to lead them through their darkest hour, the remaining members of the Governor's council must step forward and take charge before what little that remains falls apart.
A month after the disastrous First Fall, a glimmer of hope appears in the form of dragon eggs. Created by geneticists Dr. Priyanka Rao and Erik Alvarsson, the fifty-two eggs rest in a well guarded incubator within the safety of Landing's genetics lab. While the wonder that is the eggs has only just been discovered by the Heads of Landing's various Departments, news of their arrival will soon spread throughout the colony. Little do they know, Erik has slipped secrets into the clutch during the creation process. Whatever the outcome of his actions, the eggs may very well be what the colony needs to continue moving forward.

After the fall of Voldemort, the wizarding world experienced a period of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Life improved--or went back to normal--for most. Minister Shacklebolt left office nearly 20 years later with an incredibly high approval rating, and was replaced by war hero Hermione Granger-Weasley in 2017. However, when a global recession slowed the muggle economies of the world, the wizarding world was not spared its effects, and Minister Weasley lost the 2024 election to conservative Terence Higgs.

Magic. It's dying.
The general population doesn't know it. They can't feel it. The mundane, the uninitiated - they can't sense the lines of magic that course through the earth like veins, all running to power nodes. But the supernatural, the mutants, and the demigods alike all depend on the existence of magic. They rely on it to function.
Stray too far from one, and the vampires turn to corpses, the shapeshifters turn to animals, the mutants cease to be able to manipulate creation, and the demigods lose access to their heavenly lineage.
Slowly, one by one, the nodes have been draining. Vancouver and Hong Kong are the last remaining major cities with a functioning power source. Vancouver's reigning council has closed the city to outsiders, preferring to keep their home clean of vagabonds and preserve what's left of the magic they reside upon, hoping it'll be enough to save them.
But Hong Kong. Hong Kong's lady ruler has recently opened the gates and offered her city as sanctuary.
She welcomes you with open arms.

You were in the middle of something--fighting, dying, maybe just heading to work--when suddenly the ground beneath you was no longer what you expected it to be. The world went dark, only to reveal one you never knew. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear water running and the faint sounds of birds, although none of them seem to come close enough to see. In what you think might once have been a town, there are only old, dilapidated buildings. The air is too heavy, too quiet.
And then someone greets you.
Perhaps it's someone you know. Most likely, it isn't. They'll tell you that you're safe, that you'll find some things that will help you in your pockets (or whatever you have that could pass for a pocket), and that you should come with them to the hotel.
The hotel doesn't look better than any of the other buildings from the outside, but at least there are lights and running water (or at least, the man at front desk promises there is). Before you head to your room, the man running the front desk admits that they haven't had visitors in quite some time and that Old Ashton has certainly seen better days, but it just needs some new blood to liven up the place.
If you're not too tired or scared, you might hear the hope in his voice. And maybe you're not completely afraid of it.
OLD ASHTON is a panfandom, AU (including CRAU) character friendly game centered around a village that has been withering away with the dwindling powers of its native deities, who have brought you here to fulfill your true potential and help bring their town back to life.
OPENING AT TEN PLAYERS.
Alpha Complex is a game based on the tabletop RPG, Paranoia. Characters must survive the mercurial insanity of an AI tyrant, the terrorist plans of secret society groups and each other. This is a game where you are encouraged to act, not just react. You will be able to do just about anything as long as you are willing to accept the consequences. With high risk, comes high danger — but also high reward.
Our dreams can create worlds beyond our understanding, yet our recollection of them fade within the waking hours. They fade, as light casts shadows upon the our faces and we rid ourselves of fantastic notions. Emerging from the cocoon of another place we go about our daily lives without giving our dreams much a passing thought. At night, we watch the news, read the blogs, and catch the feeds -- the world is falling apart and, as a whole, humanity remains apathetic about it.
We say our good nights and partake in our nightly rituals, no matter how sordid they
might be, and find ourselves ready to fall fast asleep.
Only then you don't wake from your next dream. You find ourselves in a dark, twisted fantasy of the worst imaginations possible. Some one took every story, every legend and glued them all together ... and it came out wrong.
Pain is mistaken for pleasure, violence and slavery are among the pettiest of crimes you witness and suddenly -- you wake again. You're one of the lucky ones, the death you felt in your dream merely woke you. Others are dying, left in comas, or worse. What you remember so vividly as merely a horrific dream is having very real consequences upon the waking world. They give you a few pills and a number to call in a few days, tell you that you'll be fine.
Except everything isn't fine. So when you take that last look in the mirror, tonight, you remember something you heard in your supposed dream:
Will you return to that nightmare and own your sins, or will you make tomorrow's memory your last?
Enrollment is currently OPEN to all members who are looking for a (hopefully) long-term RP set in a slightly mature setting within a sprawling world created by our members.

There's the London we all know.
And then there's the Underground. The real Underground, a secret world of supernatural forces and strange creatures that walk the city streets hidden in plain sight. Witches, vampires, werewolves. Shapeshifters and humans with extraordinary powers. Ghosts. And the Other Realm, where the fae dwell, and where magic leaks out into every corner of the city.
While the parties of Westminster fight their political battles, there is another much more dangerous power struggle going on. It's a battle for territory, and it is fought by the various supernatural factions that claim dominion over the city.
Will peace prevail? Or is conflict inevitable? Let the story begin...

YOU HAVE BEEN C.A.L.L.E.D.
What is this game? Whatever the hell you make of it. Whatever you want it to be. You want to take over part of a city? You can do that. You want to hang out at the movies with your cross-universe friends? You can do that. You want to go exploring uncharted islands in the sea of fictional genres? Go right ahead. Become a werewolf? Sure. Apprentice yourself to a mad scientist? Totally. Fall in love? Of course. Change your fate? Absolutely.
But what's the genre here? What's the plot? The genre is all and the plot is what you make of it. That CALL device over there plops you into the middle of the Seven-Fold City, which sits at the border between fiction and reality. It's meta as crap. The City of Tomorrow, the City of Shadows, the City of Nightmares, the City of Sorcery, the City of Laughter, the City of Adventure, the City of Romance and a bunch of islands that fill in the gaps give you a load of options, and that's not even counting the stuff that crops up every other week. Use what you like and leave what you don't. Simple as that. Or, you know, as complex as you want. Whichever floats your boat.
Why do I want to app here? You like the idea of building the gamespace with what YOU want, including pieces from your canon? What about 'no power nerf'? Not being locked in the gamespace do it for you? Cross-universe shenanigans? An open cast list? AUs accepted? OCs accepted? Freedom like a PSL or a meme post but interconnected with other players so you've always got fresh hooks and new plot to play with? Optional quests that utilize different skills and strengths? Stop me when you've heard enough. You know. Metaphorically.
ABOUT THE GAME
THE CALLING is a sandboxy, play-to-your-intensity game where your characters get to be heroes, villains, and everything in between in a variety of different genres. There are themed areas for scifi, noir, horror, fantasy, comedy, romance, and adventure available at all times, with the events switched up bi-weekly to keep things fresh (think of those like visiting memes!), as well as varied quests that can offer characters power, opportunity, and more. CR and character growth would be the name of the game if they weren't really awful to try and Google, and we're dedicated to building the game AND the gamespace with the players. Interested? Follow the_calling_rp or click the buttons over there and take a look. APPS ARE ALWAYS OPEN!

What we offer:
*Welcome threads for each new account – You should never doubt that we want you around.
*Guest-friendly chatroom to talk plot before making commitments – None of us like joining a site only to find that it isn’t a good fit for us, so we don’t mind talking first and letting you decide.
*No word count – All we ask is that you post enough to give your fellow poster something to respond to, whether this is one sentence or one thousand words.
*Many different skin options, along with holiday options when applicable. To see these, log in as CCGuest with the password guest.
*Informative application – By informative, we don’t mean difficult. There is no length requirement. We just want to learn about your character. You may also do freeform applications as long as the required information is in there somewhere.
*Quick turnaround on approvals – An approval only requires one admin out of four to look over the profile.
*You choose your character’s house – This goes for current and past students, as long as there is an opening for current students.
*Friendly community – If we weren’t, we wouldn’t be advertising.
*No OOC discrimination, but there could be plenty IC ;)
*Easy character placement – We have so many areas to play in that it would be hard to decide there was nowhere for your character.
*LBGT+ friendly – Your character’s sexuality is not a concern for anyone, and, for those transgendered characters, we’ll go with however they identify. The only male/female division is in the school dorms, and your character would generally be roomed with whatever gender they identify with, or, by request, have their own room.
*Over a year old – But you’ll have a chance to get in where almost everything has openings.
What we do not offer:
*Cliquey behavior – What is the point honestly?
*Canon characters – But we have a limited number of descendants open for adoption.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, check us out. :)
Every ending is a new beginning...
"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." Harry spoke the words from his heart at the memorial service for the man he had once so hated. The words flowed easily from his lips, though he would later confess to Ginny his uncertainty whether he meant to convince the wizard world of what he had seen that terrible night when so many had fallen; or console himself for the infinite pain of a missed opportunity.
What if everything Harry and friends believed they knew suddenly began to unravel? What if the world they built proved to have shaky foundations and appeared to unravel before their very eyes? What if history began to repeat itself? What if they could do some things very differently? What if?
Looking for anyone interested in a Next Gen Potter role-play game.
Also needed is a co-admin to help run the game and develop the story-wide arcs.
As this is a Next Generation game, players with minimal knowledge of the canon can easily work characters into the game. All that is asked is that suggested plots fit within the overall framework of the game. It is 2021. The wizard world prepares to mark the 20th anniversary of the reopening of Hogwarts and the 140 anniversary of Dumbledore's birth. Everything that happened in the books has happened here, BUT some of it will turn out differently from a different vantage point (think Buckbeak and the Time Turner), while strides have been made in rebuilding a better wizard world, there remains a pervasive and insidious undercurrent of prejudice in the wizard world as a whole. Not everyone, but enough that it's a problem that cannot be ignored.
Mare Cognitum will be filled with surprising twists and turns as Harry Potter and friends confront their pasts and learn that many long-held assumptions have evaporated while long accepted truths are proved false. It's not always easy to separate friend from foe when long accepted realities evaporate. The game will begin anew and fresh. There is plenty of room for OCs and most canons are available, too. Characters most needed include Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger-Weasley, Rose Weasley, Albus Severus Potter, Ginny Weasley-Potter, Lily Luna Potter.
Mare Cognitum will be a very literate role-play and basic literacy is expected of all players, whether writing for canons or original characters. We seek to be a plot-driven game with solidly crafted characters. Mary Sues, Gary Stus and otherwise fantastical creature-characters (half mermaids/half vampires) would be somewhat out of place, but with a strong enough story line will be considered.
Most major canons are available. Everyone is welcome.
ABOUT THE GAME
YOU HAVE BEEN C.A.L.L.E.D.
AND NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN
One day, you wake up to find a small package resting beside your head: within is a strange smartphone-like device, the letters C.A.L.L.E.D. etched into the metal panel on the back. If you choose to power it up, you'll find yourself connected to a network of like-minded individuals, representatives of different worlds and universes. Dig deeper and you'll find the [TRANSPORT] function and that's when things really get interesting.
The device comes from a place called The Seven-fold City. It's not so much that it doesn't have another name as that it has a thousand names in a thousand tongues and no one can really agree which one they like. But everyone can at least agree that it's made up of seven smaller cities, so the compromise remains.
The Seven-fold City sits at the border between fiction and reality, its denizens the people who've filled a thousand stories, its landmarks seen in hundreds of tales. Most importantly, that device that you found? It came from here. And it is to the Seven-fold City you will go should you choose to use the transport function.
What is the purpose of these devices? Why did you receive one? Who created them and who is sending them out? All good questions, though some are more easily answered than others...

So, What Is Aestus?
Aestus is a fantasy-horror RP set in a unique fantasy world that is beginning to rebuild itself after having been destroyed by the Gods centuries ago. While magic does exist here and the gods can and will occasionally walk among mortals, magic is not as common as it once was- and does backfire quite frequently, for it is the force that largely reshaped the world and created the races that we now have. Nightmarish, horrific creatures are not the only danger here; for the world is a strange and deadly place: people can easily become a danger to themselves and others. Heroes, villains and everything in between call Aestus their home, for better or worse- and it is these people who will help shape their world in the ways that they see fit. Bandits' lairs, murderers' hideouts, racial erradication, slavery, fantasy racism; these things are all rampant in the world, alongside the twisted creatures that prowl the wilderness and the preternatural beings that lure travelers to certain doom. And yet, Aestus is not a land of destruction, hatred and vengeance; it is deeper than that- much deeper. For even though the world itself will test the strength and moral fortitude of its inhabitants, there is still good and righteousness to be found here. There are countless discoveries to make, places to explore and there will be opportunities for the players to establish their characters as someone who is truly important to the site as a whole. Aestus is your world as much as it is mine. It can be elevated to a place of true greatness, or toppled into a seething cesspool of criminality. It all depends on what happens as the RP begins and starts to unfold.
