Everything is open! It's a familiar story. You're going about your daily routine, and you stumble. At least that's what you think happened. Before you can blink, you're stumbling out of the other end of an interdimensional portal, and into a strange town. Colors seem brighter in this place, and the air smells a little sweet, and that's when you notice that to your right is a small man made of candy, who informs you that you are now in The Candy Kingdom. The princess's magic-science portal doesn't work in reverse, so you're kind of stuck, but if you could start adventuring that would be really helpful. Weird stuff has been going on lately. WELCOME! Welcome to the Napoleonic Wars.

The year is 1809. It is May. Armies are on the move to fight battles that will decide the fate of nations.

The Army:

Five months ago, the British were driven from the Peninsula, fighting every step of the way. But now... Now it is time to fight again.

Sir Arthur Wellesley is the last hope for the British army in Portugal. Can he take them from defeat to victory?

The Navy:

Four years ago, the British fleet defeated France and Spain in battle. In the hour of victory, their leader was killed. Britain gained control of the seas... or did she?

There are rumours that the French are rebuilding their broken fleet, wishing to rise again. Will they succeed?

This is a world at war. From battles at sea to skirmishes on land to the secret fact-finding missions of spies of both sides, there is danger at every turn. There is friendship and camaraderie, too. But the clouds are gathering.

Sanctuary of Change (panfandom superpower/post-apocalyptic rp)

Since roleplaying relies so much on interaction, I want to forward the introduction to this one by first mentioning that this roleplay, first and foremost, is supposed to be enjoyable. We're here to have a good time, and despite the dark subject matter and the potential for some pretty gruesome or despairing plotlines, we really encourage all players to make the world their own, and be inspired by the set canon more than worry terribly about following all of it to the letter. As I've mentioned on the profile for the community, if you're unclear on or disagree with any of the rules, you're welcome to contact a mod/leave a comment somewhere to discuss it.

Here's the summary of the plot and how the roleplay works, and I hope some of you reading this consider joining this new DW-based roleplay! :) Also, this is a panfandom roleplaying community, so any character from any show, movie, manga, etc is allowed. Original characters and even real people are also accepted; basically anybody you want to roleplay, you probably can.

sanctuaryofchange_rp is a rolepaying community based in the gutted, damaged buildings in the UK after a nuclear power plant in Northern France released radiation across several neighboring countries. A lot of people were killed, but those that survived were all Changed - mutated in some way. Quarantined from an outside world that is fearful and suspicious of the activities inside from their 'deformed' fellow humans, their community at first collapses in on itself. A fight for survival (and companionship) is fought both inside and outside the walls of the Quarantined areas, as sometimes the changed people are actually something to fear...

Set in a contained area in the southern part of England, Sanctuary of Change allows you to develop characters with powers that they can learn to harness over time, along with a political and social storyline going on concerning their relations with the outside world. You can ignore or embrace the on-going plot arcs with the outsiders as much as you (or your character/s) would like. There's also just plenty of opportunity to let yourself focus on your character's personal turmoil and difficulties in this nearly post-apocalyptic setting...because for those inside the Quarantined areas, it really is the end of the world.

You're free to play characters either trapped inside the Quarantine, or those outside the walls (as long as, naturally, they're involved in the Quarantine in some way).

A quick note about how the RPs themselves are run: Roleplaying is not conducted through threads via the community like many others, but through Skype, and email as a secondary option. You can post your RP logs as chronicle posts once your plots have completed, or just write a narrative describing what happened. This allows other RPers to see what you're up to, and learn more about your character and writing style. :) If there's a lot of disagreement on this set-up, we may change this in the future, but for now, we've found this set-up allows for the fastest roleplaying and keeps the journals free for IC interaction over 'their' personal journals.
