Separated by about 9 miles, the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are two of the largest metropolitan areas in the Midwest, ranked 16th in the nation with a population of nearly three and a half million (3,317,308 to be exact). The area is the once-upon-a-time home to Bob Dylan, Prince, and the LA Lakers, and hosts the gigantic Mall of America (or MoA to the locals). And yet, despite their moniker of "Twins," Minneapolis and St. Paul have plenty of unique characteristics that could draw anyone from around the country in. Sports, shopping and music are not the only things that the area has to boast about as well. Theaters, musicals and comedies are among the region's best, and university campuses thrive in the urban setting. Victorian architecture in St. Paul and Minneapolis's more modern skyscrapers offer a unique flavor to each location that liken back to the East Coast or to the West. From professor, to politician, to pediatrician, there is something for everyone here.
