A Futuristic-Fantasy Pan-Fandom Game in the
Harry Potter Universe
Premise
It is centuries in the future and Earth is reaching out and colonizing other planets. The CBRA-class (Colonist Bearing Resettlement Ark) vessel SPACE OWLS has just touched down on the second planet of the Zirbraxes system (Zirbraxes 2, colloquially referred to as Zebratoo), ready to start the first Earth colony on the planet.
Over six decades ago, the division between the magical and mundane worlds was eradicated, and though they may not all live in harmony, Muggles, witches and wizards, half-breeds and magical creatures no longer live in ignorance of one another as they once did. The colony that will be founded on Zirbraxes 2 is a first attempt at building a community that fully acknowledges and integrates both magical and mundane technology; accordingly, the colonists that make up its population are a combination of all those mentioned above. As they work together to build a new life for themselves, they must contend with the dangers and delights of an unfamiliar planet, to say nothing of those they have brought with them.
About
SPACE OWLS is meant to be a text-heavy game for skilled writers. To this end, you must be a strong and competent writer, capable of challenging and engaging the other players. What makes SPACE OWLS different from some Harry Potter games? Well, for one thing, it's a pan-fandom game. It just borrows a bunch of core elements from the HP world because the mod likes the world building in that series. There are three kinds of characters that may be played at SPACE OWLS: Fandom characters (with the exception of all Harry Potter characters, as the game takes place in the distant future), original characters, and real people (i.e., RPF characters).
While the overarching plot of SPACE OWLS is that a mixed group of colonists are busy building a life for themselves on an Earth-like planet on the other side of the galaxy, this is intended as a pretend-y fun-times game with a serious twist. In addition to the daily humdrum of planning, building, planting, farming, and exploring, there will also be subplots (most probably cracktastic in nature) to keep things interesting. This is not a classic work of fiction that needs to avoid cliches and must ascribe to silly things like "logic" and "reality." If players want to have a cracky time-traveling genderswap plot with a side of dino-dragon hybrids? That is okay.
